The Old Man, a two painting series
One class I took studying at Boston University's pre-college fine art program was oil painting. We had this male model sit for us, and I produced two paintings of him. This one is zoomed out to show the setting he sits in, and the other which I call "The Old Man from Up-Close" shows the detail of only his face. However the painting styles of both are different.
With this piece, I wanted to loosely show the environment the model sits in. In comparison to the "Up-Close", very detailed version of this model, I wanted to not show a more vague and cartoonish style. You cannot see the detail in his face but one could tell the similarity of the model in both pieces.

Observational, oil on canvas, 16" 20"
